    LAP Report to Council

    Attachment: Anglesea report.pdf

    Hi All,

The key priorities for Anglesea community members - as identified in the recent Local Area Planning sessions - have been compiled into the attached report. Thanks to the participants from the Local Area Planning sessions who volunteered their time to work with me on this report, and for coming along to present the ideas directly to Council.

This is just the start of the process - I look forward to working with you all on the priorities/projects that were raised in the sessions and taking the next steps. I will be contacting the people who registered their interest in the various topics on the night. If you'd like to be involved in any of these issues, please feel free to contact me directly.

    Cheers,
    Rochelle

    Re: LAP Report to Council

    Hi

Today the LAP report for both Moriac and Anglesea were presented to Council.

Council was thanked for the allocation of resources which enable this planning process to take place. These was some discussion and questioning. I left the meeting feeling that the meetings so far were in fact the begining of an ongoing process.

An immediate result of the meeting was the realisation that any atempt to return V-Line services to Moriac could receive significant support from the Anglesea community. Some Anglesea residents commute to Melbourne daily, and currently drive to Marshall or Geelong stations to board trains. Clearly we must include these Anglesea commuters in any calculation of demand for a Moriac station. This opportunity would also add demand for a bus service from Anglesea to connect with the train in Moriac and then travelling onto Waurn Ponds and perhaps Geelong City. The reverse bus service would connect with the train at Moriac and terminate at Anglesea.

The exisiting Primary Scool site at Moriac would provide an ideal location for a Railway Station, Community Centre, commuter car park, maybe even a Community House,  a Pub and a restaurant. What would we call that? A TOWN CENTRE!!

And we could have a School somewhere more appropriate, perhaps sharing the exisiting sports grounds.

Are we making progress? I think we are!
